After 31 rounds, we are at the finale of the 2023 SuperMotocross World Championship Series—the last of three playoff rounds after the Supercross and Motocross seasons. Just as the Los Angeles Coliseum race pays triple points in the SuperMotocross Playoff Series, you also get triple points in RMFantasySMX.com leagues. So, it’s time to go for that perfect score—you could end up with a $50,000 payoff from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. That’s not quite the $1 million the SuperMotocross World Champion gets, but it is the same as P11 gets for the series finish.

2023 SuperMotocross Round 3 Fantasy Tips and Picks: Chase Sexton
Chase Sexton.
  1. It’s a three-way battle for the title. If either Chase Sexton or Jett Lawrence wins, the winning rider is the champion and takes home the million dollars. If Ken Roczen wins at the Coliseum, he is the champion, unless Sexton comes in P2—that will be enough to give Sexton the title. So, all three riders are highly motivated to win in Los Angeles. P2 pays $500k, and $250k goes to the final podium finisher.
2023 SuperMotocross Round 3 Fantasy Tips and Picks: Jett Lawrence
Jett Lawrence.
  1. If you want a really wild scenario, consider this finish. If Aaron Plessinger wins, followed by Ken Roczen, Jett Lawrence, and Chase Sexton in that order, Plessinger will win the championship with 149 points. Lawrence would have 148 points, Roczen scores 146, and Sexton finishes with 144. That is highly unlikely, though not entirely impossible. With 75 points on the table for a win, Kyle Chisholm and Justin Hill are mathematically in the hunt with 16 points in P17, but let’s not go there.
2023 SuperMotocross Round 3 Fantasy Tips and Picks: Aaron Plessinger
Aaron Plessinger.
  1. Most likely, it will come down to Chase Sexton vs. Jett Lawrence. With the Coliseum track being the most Supercross-like of the three playoff series rounds, I’m going with Sexton, though I won’t be the least bit surprised if Lawrence roars into the Coliseum and goes 1-1.
2023 SuperMotocross Round 3 Fantasy Tips and Picks: Ken Roczen
Ken Roczen.
  1. Regardless of the Sexton/Lawrence showdown result, I have Ken Roczen down for P3. Roczen could surprise, but Sexton is the 2023 Supercross Champion, and Jett won the 250SX West title. Roczen is the defending FIM World Supercross Championship, but that series has yet to establish its credentials as an elite title.
  1. Dylan Ferrandis is the best of the rest. Ferrandis has gone 3-5 in the first two rounds, which averages right out to P4.

  1. The final top-five spot will go to one of the other riders with a top-five finish in the two opening rounds—Aaron Plessinger (6-4) and Jason Anderson (5-9). It all comes down to which Anderson shows up at the Coliseum. Anderson certainly should be motivated—he is in P8 in the standings (worth $100k) but will move up to P6 ($135k) if he beats Cooper Webb and Justin Barcia. However, Anderson could beat Webb (8-7) and Barcia (7-6) without a top-five finish. Plessinger is P4 in the standings, but just three points ahead of Ferrandis. It seems like Ferrandis and Plessinger will fight it out over P4, and Anderson could cruise to the P6 money, staying out of it. So, Plessinger is my P5 choice.
Justin Barcia and Adam Cianciarulo
Justin Barcia leads Adam Cianciarulo.
  1. The Wild Card is P7, and that means three riders—Cooper Webb, Justin Barcia, and Jason Anderson. Barring any problems, Anderson should best Webb and Barcia in the battle for the P6 money, with a P6 finish. That leaves Barcia vs. Webb. Barcia has beat Webb at both SuperMotocross Playoffs, so Barcia gets the P7 Wild Card nod.
